A Philadelphia Police officer died from his injuries 30 days after the shooting

A Philadelphia police officer died of gunshot wounds after being shot in the line of duty nearly 3 months ago.

Jaime Roman, the 31-year-old police officer who died Tuesday night after 40 days of care, had been in the sector for nearly seven years.

He is survived by his wife, a 4-year-old son and a 7-year-old daughter.

On June 22 in Kensington, Philadelphia, driver Ramon Rodriguez Vazquez, 36, was removing personal items from the car when Roman noticed an empty holster on the floorboard.

Rodriguez Vazquez then fled. Roman and his partner chased after him when he fired three shots, one of which hit Roman in the neck.

Then the police arrested him there. The police commissioner said that he will be charged with murder.
